Sand-Reckoner Vineyards
Located on the Willcox Bench at 4300 feet in elevation, Rob and Sarah Hammelman tend to Sand-Reckoner Vineyards. The vines, grown on rocky, sandy loam soil, contend with the elements to fully express Arizona’s rugged high desert. Rob’s winemaking endeavors have taken him to Australia and France, and his wines represent a synergy between New and Old World winemaking. Wines produced by this new venture include Malvasia Bianca, a Rosé based on Nebbiolo, and reds from Sangiovese, Syrah, Graciano, and Petit Verdot.
Tastings offered at their Willcox winery location by appointment starting summer 2011
